Using dimension as lookup table

We have a trial balance split on account and cost centers. There are several hundred accounts but on some of them we need cost centers to route it to the correct account in HFM.

I have looked into cross dimensional mappings and think that this can be used for our purpose. There is however many cost centers and the script used in the mapping would be very large and not easy to maintain for the users.

I therefore looked into using one of the available dimensions as a lookup table. I cannot find any examples on the web where this is used, and not much in the Oracle documentation either.
