Milestone - Approval notification Process configuration

We are trying to configure Milestone approval notification process but when we have setup Grants role type for Milestone Role (MIL) it does not show in the look up on Approval/Notification process tab.

Another question is why award, Compponent, Milestone check box is grayed out(Read only).
