When should "fix it" in HFM version 11.1.2.3.500 be utilized

Hi. We recently upgraded to HFM version 11.1.2.3.500 and were told by our consultant we will be required to run Smart View Fix It function once when opening existing Smart View retrieve files that were extablished in the previous version.  However we are discovering that not be the case and that each time users open a Smart View retrieve, they are required to run Fix It function, specifically if the file is shared among users.  Can someone let me know is that truely the intent of Fix It in the new version. Is it a requirement now, same as clicking
