Does Dual Sourcing work when using ASCP

On R12.1.3

Client is asking for dual sourcing to be set up. I have entered the two suppliers into a sourcinig rule and each ranked as 1 and a 50/50 split in a test system. I expect I need to run a data collection plan for this changed to be picked up in ASCP. My question is if I have a net requirement for Qty 100 will 2 requisitions be created with Qty 50 on each againstt the 2 suppliers. I have read various comments on this but nothing conclusive that it actually works

Any help appreciated
