Increase parameter width for dropdown

Is possible to increase the parameter width of a dropdown so the select value can be displayed entirely? We are on version 11.1.1.7.1.x of BI Publisher. I have seen the following in another thread but it doesn't seem to be working in our release.

          In 11.1.1.6.8 and later we enhanced the LOV so that it displays larger values when selected. You still do not set the size but the appearance is better.

All dropdowns are the same width. They do not increase in width no matter what length of the value is selected.
