Physcial Standby - Flashback

I am in the process of setting up Flashback for my Primary and Physical Standby systems. Can you provide the best documentation to follow.

We want to be able to switch from Primary to Standby and back again, but having the flash back technology.

Our goal is to switch to our Physical Standby if something happens to Production.  Let's say production is down for hours, and once we resolve the production issue and bring it backup.  We like to switch back to Production but making sure all the changes that where being done on the Standby will be pickup back on Production.  Is the Flashback the way to handle this situation?
