How to disable/end date/inactivate a ledger in GL

Hello,

If we decide to stop using a ledger in GL, after it has been used for a few years, due to for instance selling the company under that ledger or a company name change or a company fiscal year-end change as a result of which a new ledger needs to be created, how do we make that old ledger inactive in GL?

Can it be end dated or deleted?
