Run Agile 933 start and stop scripts in the background on Unix

We are having a hard time getting the start and stop scripts to run for Agile 9.3.3 in the background on Unix.   we've tried the nohup command, but it still seems to tie up the putty window we are running it in.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
