Autocommit feature of the serial number entry form

Hi experts:

Query INV.MTL_SERIAL_NUMBERS_TEMP from eTRM , see there is statement:

It is possible to have chile records in this table without a parent record due to the autocommit feature of the serial number entry form.  Periodic deletion of irrelevant data from this table is desired.

What's the meaning of:  autocommit feature of the serial number entry form?

Does this serial number entry means serial number entry of  Receiving,issue or other inventory transactions?

How does the serial number be autocommit, is there any way to prevent this feature?
