Asset Serial Number change possible if no transactions have been made?

Hi all-

I have just completed a load in a production instance with incorrect serial numbers and was wondering if there was any datafix available to update them since no transactions have been made.  The client prefers that the asset number and serial number matches, and at this point the only recourse I see is to disable all the previously loaded assets and rename them before loading the correct data once more.  Any help is much appreciated.
