in Human Capital Management - EBS (MOSC) Question

what is the 'Significance of OBJECT_IDENTIFIER column in HR_API_TRANSACTION_STEPS'. I tried checking how this is populates into a OBJECT_IDENTIFIER column in the HR_API_TRANSACTION_STEPS table by searching packages but did not understand the same. Would you please help me to understand if any significance.
