How important is CCITT Group 4 compression for webcenter forms recognition?

We have struggled to find scanners that all the functionality of Webcenter Enterprise Capture (i.e. have the correct flavour of Twain needed to be able to set things like double sided scanning etc). The ones we have found do not have CCIT Group 4 compression as an output mode. Oracle says that the best images to input into WFR are B&W 300dpi CCIT group 4 tifs. Does anyone know why CCIT Group 4 compression is better for WFR? WFR is not currently implemented but is the next stage in the roadmap and we don't want to buy a load of
