ASR and assets availability

Hi everyone. According to the heartbeat rules, we will be notified 48 hours after that a server is sending heartbeats.  What if the server goes down because a hardware issue and stay like that?   Would ASR be a reliable tool to capture this type of events in real-time?  One of our customers wants to know if ASR would let him know as soon as one of his assets goes down for any reason.  Thanks.
