Which SQL Native Client version to use?

We are upgrading to IP 2013 (8.1.1.11) - Open UI.

Here is some information:

  • Our database servers are currently running with 64-bit Windows Server 2008 SP 2 with SQL Server 2008 and want to leave those as-is.
  • We are attempting to move our Siebel Application/Gateway servers to run on VMs with 64-bit Windows Server 2012 (they're currently on Windows Server 2008 SP 2).
  • When we upgraded a few years back, per the information we understood from the documentation at that time, we needed to install SNAC 9.0 (the SQL Server 2005 version) on the Siebel servers -- even though we upgraded the database to SQL Server 2008.
  • According to Microsoft:
