mesg: can not stat - ssh

I have an issues with ssh and solaris 10. I recieve a "mesg: can not stat" on my ssh client when I try to login.

I run /usr/lib/sshd -ddd and noticed an error with /var/adm/lastlog is not a file or directory. I check the file and its there and perms are ok.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot?
