R12.2.4 - PA Periods at Ledger Level or Operating Unit Level?

We want to know if PA Periods are at Ledger level or Operating unit leveli.e. if we close the period in a ledger for PA then will it close across all the Operating Unit at the ledger  or only that particular OU?
