How to limit lov of alternate catalogs in some Item catalog category(ICC)

At item profile there is Classification and Categories tab where users can add alternate catalog category. Is any ability to limit lov of alternate catalogs for some Item catalog category(ICC). For example there is two hierarchies New items and Old items. And for all items from New items and all child categories there is lov1 of alternate catalogs and for Old items it was another lov2 of of alternate catalogs. Or make Classification and Categories tab hidden or read only Old items Item catalog category and all child categories?
