Difference between Invoice cancellation and write off in Project credit level

Hi Folks,

Could some one explain me the difference between " Invoice cancellation and write off in Project credit level".

As per my understanding write off we can enter amount, but cancellation we can't, please let me know other differences and when we should use these functionalities.
