Server used to invoke outbound web service

Hello

We need to invoke a web service that resides outside out customer's network. This web service is exposed on the Internet but only certain IPs have access. So they have asked us to give them the IP of the machine invoking the web service in order to provide access. For outbound web services which server actually invokes the web service, the application or the web server?
