Instance not coming in subline in Service Contract

Hi,

I have an active Service Contract where I want to add a new serial. When I try to add the instance in reference number field and tab out it give below error :-

FRM-40212: Invalid value for field REFERENCE_NUMBER

I noticed that contract party and instance party didn't match.. so I added the instance party as Thirst Party, but still same error.

Any idea what could be the reason or what is the query for reference number LOV in sublines.
