Netra T4-1 ast graphics at 8bit depth

For one of our apps we need to run the graphics at 8 bit colour depth. I have so far not been able to find a way to do this?

fbconfig says depth not a supported option

putting -depth 8 on the Xserver start line in /etc/dt/config/Xservers results in the whole server crashing!

Anyone know if this is possible at all, like I say it's essential for this one app, I've never had a problem reducing colour depth to 8 bits on any other graphics adapter before.


Running Solaris 10 with the required patches and packages for the sun4v architecture.
