X2-4 fan noise increase after firmware update

We upgraded the firmware on a X2-4 server, from 3.1.2.24.b to 3.1.2.24.e, and the fan noise has increased. The fan noise is louder and the fan also speeds up and slows down on a some what regular biases. There was a change to the fan algorithm in 3.1.2.24.c. Are there some ILOM settings that can be changed to reduce the fan noise?
