COLLECTION PLAN TRIGGERS - Can I add a custom trigger?

:Hello All:

Can someone tell me if it's possible to add as a collection trigger to a plan that's NOT on the LOV?  If so, how?  I'd like to add the Asset Category.  Thanks very much - Leah
