when upgrading 11i to 12.2.4 - do we enable online patching before or after 12.2.4 patch

Following all the varied documents.  We reached the point to apply 12.2.4 patch.  All the prior tasks have been completed including the rapidwiz configuration task at the end of chapter 3.

The steps go on to say reapply customes etc...we are skipping this task for the time being since it is our first pass.

Question - Do we enable online patching now or do we continue on with 12.2.4 patch?

I asked because we have continued and now we have workers failing everywhere.with edition type of errors.
