How to upgrade Solaris 10 to release 8/11 using standard method (DVD disc) and server has VERTIAS vo

The issues occurred when I upgrades Solaris 10 release from 11/9 to 8/11, the Solaris version (Solaris 10) on slice c0t0d0s0 cannot be upgraded. A file system listed in the file system table (vfstab) could not be mounted.  Do I need to do any steps for volume manager before I do the upgrade?
