KIT Processing during Sales order Entry

Hi All

My client would like to set up kit in following way. Parent item XYZ and childs - ABC1, ABC2 and ABC3. Parent should be having 1 std child ABC and 1 child to either from ABD or ABE which would be decided during sales order processing.

I tried creating Child 1 ABD substitute to ABE, but during Sales order processing i am not able to select either of ABD or ABE.

Item # - Parent - XYZ

            Child 1 - ABC

            Child 2 - ABD (or)

            Child 2.1 - ABE

Please let me know if any one knows answers to it or correct me if i am wrong.
