weblogic 10.3.4 on jdk 1.6 and hibernate

Could you please advise about pro and cons of using hibernate with weblogic?

application has very large number of users and transactions. Currently we are not using any database connectivity framework.

Since it looks like many applications are using hibernate trying to understand if there is true advantage.

Which version of hibernate is supported on weblogic 10.3.4 ? Which version would not be in conflict with weblogic classes?

Is hibernate supported by Oracle?

Is there maybe another better alternative to hibernate?
