Auditing System user

Hi

I have enabled auditing on system user, audit all by system, when I update a table or delete/insert I am not seeing this recorded any where, Database Is 11.2.0.4 auditing is enabled, and audit_trail is set to xm,, extended.  I am not seeing the changes in the xml files in the audit_file_dest nor in $xml_audit_trail.  My intention is to audit all the activities performed by system user.
