Oracle eBS and XML - Using XML for data load and transform

I am looking for guidance on using an XML as a solution to load and transform data into Oracle eBusiness Suite (eBS).  I do not have any prior experience/knowledge of using XML.


Scenario: Whenever our business users have a requirement for automation of a high volume manual data entry task that they perform (e.g. Creating AR Invoices/Credit Memos), our approach has typically been the following

- Establish an Excel file to which they can quickly enter the data in a user friendly manner - drop downs for restricted values, defaulting rules, data type checks

- Have them save the file in a tab delimited format
