How to update attribute columns on a batch of transactions in RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL?

I would like to be able to update attribute columns on an AR transaction batch after the transaction was created with AutoInvoice. Document 1362515.1 states that no API is available for providing this functionality. What would be the supported way to do it?
