AME Substitute Supervisor

Hi - I need to setup an AME approval rule that skips over a given supervisor and goes to a substitute supervisor. I've experimented with attribute SUPERVISORY_NON_DEFAULT_STARTING_POINT_PERSON_ID but couldn't get that to work. Any other ways to accomplish this?  This is AME for OIE if that makes any difference...
