Need to know the Source of Items

Hi,

  Few item numbers has junk characters. So user wants to know the source of those items that by which mechanism those items has created in system.So that we will investigate why the junk characters are coming in items.

I am not able to get from any attributes that how those items has created. Is there any way to find it out?
