Excel option "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange" keeps getting checked

We have a few users that have to keep unchecking the Excel "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" option within excel. We keep this unchecked because it causes an error with opening files from outside of excel. We are currently on office 2007.  Would anyone know why Smart View sometimes causes this option to select itself?
