In E1, if G/L Class is blank in Advanced Pricing Price Adjustment Definition, where is the G/L Class

I have done some reading and the answer seems to vary based on the Control Code value in the Price Adjustment Definition.  This is what I have come up with after reading various Knowledge documents.  Would someone please confirm or correct?  In particular, I am not sure where the G/L Class comes from for Control Codes 4 and 5 if blank in the Pricing Adjustment Definition.  Also, where it says item branch G/L Class is used, is that the same as using the G/L Class on the inventory line?  Knowledge documents referenced include Doc ID 1159465.1 and 625575.1.
