Will 12c standalone ASM support 10gR2 and 11gR2 databases

Hi,

Our environment currently has an 11gR2 (11.2.0.4) standalone ASM storage system for several 10gR2 (10.2.0.5) databases.

We were originally going to upgrade the databases to 11gR2 (11.2.0.4) because 12c was not yet available on IBM AIX 64-bit.

However, now that 12cR1 is available on this platform, can we upgrade ASM to 12cR1 fore use by the 10gR2 databases,

or do we need to upgrade the databases first to 11gR2, then upgrade everything to 12cR1?

Also, Is there documentation on upgrading ASM to 12c? I found several docuemnts on upgrading to 11gR2.
