Cumulative lead time in calendar days for manufactured item?

We have a manufactured item in our inventory which consists of one purchased component that goes through outside processing.  The leadtime of the component, because it is purchased, is in calendar days and is 26 days.  The level leadtime of the item is 15 days because, according to the routing, it goes to an outside supplier for three weeks (15 shop floor calendar days).  JDE sets the cumulative leadtime for this manufactured item to 41 days (26+15), but it is giving a false reading to our sales team because, while the 26 days from the component are calendar days, the
