Exporting blobs to disk with render:getbloburl or satellite:blob ?

Hello,

In regard to the Oracle document https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=1437818.1

Is there no other way except for that tag to export BLOBS ? what about the Satellite:blob tag, what am I giving away if I have changed all the stellite:blob tags to render:getbloburl ?
It's also worth mentioning that, the note mentions the export to disk is deprecated in 11.1.1.8, how come ? I have an 11.1.1.8 and it's working fine will it not be supported later ?
