moving ASM to new SAN
Oracle 11.2.0.3 Std Edition ONE
Oracle Linux 5.6
I was just informed by my SA that they are planning on migrating to a new SAN.
Current ASM setup is two DG. One is normal redundancy with two failgroups. One failgroup on internal SSD, the other on SAN. Second failgroup is all SAN with external redundancy.
I'm thinking fastest, no-downtime, risk-averse method is to
- mount disks from the new san,
- add these new disks to the disk groups (to the external fail group for the one that uses it)
- let rebalance complete
- remove the old disks from the disk group.
Any thoughts, suggestions, gotchas to watch out for, etc. would be very welcome.
