Do I need a temporary database to install another version of P6R8.0 hotfix due to 2008 upgrade?

We are upgrading our 2003 servers to 2008 for the Primavera web server.  I have a dev and production database.  Do I need to have the DBA create a temporary database to install P6 on the new 2008 server?  Can I just attach the new 2008 install to the existing P6 dev oracle database and have the clients test the URL on the new 2008 server?  Both 2003 and 2008 will be using the same database during the testing period? Will there be a problem with doing that the P6 R8.0 hotfix 1 will remain the same on both environments,

Howdy, Stranger!
