Whether to run interface or call api?

Hello:

     We need to update the supply subinventory and locator in BOM definition for all items. I'm populating necessary interface tables (eng_eng_changes_interface, eng_revised_items_interface and bom_inventory_comps_interface)

     My question is that after populating the necessary interface tables do I need to run Bill and Routing Interface program or call eng_eco_pub.process_eco?
