Applying Critical Patch OCT 2014 to Oracle 11.2.0.4 - shoutdown databases and listener ?

We have multiple databases of multiple Oracle versions, using a common Listener on our server. We have not yet started upgrading the 11.2.0.2 databases to 11.2.0.4 . To apply the patch, the instructions say that ALL databases and the Listener must be down. In our case, considering we do not have any databases yet on 11.2.0.4, do we need to shut down all the databases and listener on the server ?
