Block device support in ASM and Oracle 11.2.0.4

I have block devices that are mounted as /dev/xvd*. I have not partitioned them and configured UDEV and installed the ASM and DB version 112040 in it. Its working fine but reading 11204 will not support Block devices.  Can someone clarity?
