Update on VPD masking - Asterisks instead of NULL

I'm implementing FGAC VBS policies using dbms_rls.add_policy parameter sec_relevant_cols/sec_relevant_cols_opt.  When it returns the masked column, it displays as blank (NULL).   Is there a way to display all asterisks instead?

I've seen previous posts on this topic, but dated back a year or so.  I also saw some that referenced bugs/RPE submitted.  I'm hoping there is an update to feature for version 11g.
