I am looking for some help in understanding the significance of data present in the table ar_distrib

I am looking for some help in understanding the significance of data present in the table ar_distributions_all for credit memo applications. I know for invoice as well as credit memos distribution records get created in the table ra_cust_trx_line_gl_dist_all. Then what is the significance of these records present in ar_distributions_all in terms of accounting as these also get pushed to GL.
