Point In Time Restore Of Database

I would like to simulate a database failure of the source database requiring a recovery of the database to an earlier point in time. I have GG12.1.2.1.0 installed using the integrated mode of capture and apply. According to this document, Doc ID 1322931.1, if the target database is restored to a point of time in the past, "When you are restoring a database to a point in time, you can only restart the replicat correctly if you have added replicat with a checkpoint table and still have the old trails available". As I understand using the integrated mode, "The checkpoint table is a required component of nonintegrated Replicat. It is not required for integrated Replicat and is ignored if one is used."
