Oracle Critical Patch Update January 2015

We have the ODA X4-2 where we are running an hybrid setup using 12c GI and RDBMS, and 11gR2 RDBMS. Should we manually apply the January 2015 CPU patch to each of these homes? If no, how do we go about applying the CPU in this type of hybrid setup?
