Standard Cost Update Not Transferred

Can someone explain to me the reasoning behind the Oracle functionality that does not transfer standard cost updates to projects?  Why would this not result in an imbalance Project COGS and General Ledger COGS?

For example, assume an item is debited to Project WIP at $100, but before it is shipped its standard cost is increased to $110.  Since the cost update does not transfer to Projects, its cost will forever be $100 on the project.  But when this item ships from inventory, GL COGS will be debited for its cost at shipment, which will be $110.

Am I missing a setup that will resolve this difference?
