What uses Business Integration Manager (and batch) component?

We are currently upgrading from Siebel 8.1.1.5 to 8.1.1.11.13 for OpenUI.  For our new installation, we're planning to disable all unused components.  According to Siebel Bookshelf's Siebel Workflow Deployment Planning section, "Business Integration Manager and Business Integration Batch Manager have been deprecated, so if you were using either one in your business processes you need to replace them with Workflow Process Manager or Workflow Process Batch Manager, respectively."  Can anyone confirm for me that we can indeed disable these components.  Or can someone tell me what these are used for?  Thank you.
