Start/stop WLS BSSV server from a command line

Do you think is potentially a better idea to start the instance with WLST and nmStart() commands instead of startManagedWebLogic.sh?  This would seem to be much closer to how SMC starts the instance.  It assumes that you can nmConnect(), which I am having trouble doing because I don't know the password for the nodemanager user.
