Impact of item reclassification In RMS that does not reflect in SIM For Child Items

There is an open bug for this item reclassification issue in SIM for child item but seeing as the patch isn't available yet, may I know the impact of this in SIM if we still go ahead with the reclassification? I'm talking about the effect on its integration with RMS regarding transactions, stock counts, price changes and the like.
